A 'poke' is basically someone trying to get your attention It’s one of the meaningless features that are used just to annoy someone. When you poke someone, they'll receive a poke alert on their home page. The poke feature can be used for a variety of things on Facebook. For instance, you can poke your friends to say hello.

To poke a friend:
  • Go to their timeline
  • Click on the Facebook drop-down in the upper corner
  • Click Poke
2. What happens when I poke someone?
If you poke someone not in your network and they poke back. You can view their profile even if you are not their friend. When you allow someone to see your Facebook profile for 3 days, so they can know who you are and hopefully add you as a friend.

3. Can I get a poke back after I remove it?
Once you remove a poke from your home page, you can't get it back. But, you can still poke back. Removing a poke also allows the other person to poke you again.

4. Who can I poke?
You can only poke a confirmed friend, someone that is in a shared network, or a friend of a friend.
